It’s a Wrap on 2013… Roll Camera on 2014!
At Expressions in Video we are lucky to work with so many wonderful friends, clients and partners. Oftentimes the lines between those three categories blur. Clients become friends, partners become friends, and so on. In 2013, a lot of fun things happened for both us and our friends and clients.
Texas actress, Mary Anzalone, whose website and acting demos we maintain, wrote and directed her first short film this past year. Mary wrote the screenplay for the short film, “Imagine Her Christmas,” and decided to take the dive into directing.
Merle Bertrand, longtime friend and one-time employee of Expressions in Video, launched a broadcasting career with KMac sports.
One of my producing and directing partners, Zane Rutledge, was brought onto the original Crackle series, “Chosen,” to handle their digital FX. If you haven’t seen “Chosen,” you should really check it out. It’s a terrific show. Coincidentally, our friend, Kevin Hamedani, had a great role in Season One of “Chosen.”
Our friends, Brian Pitman and Rachel Long, saw their feature script, “Dawn Patrol,” produced. The film stars Rita Wilson, Scott Eastwood and Jeff Fahey and was directed by Daniel Petrie, Jr. Brian and Rachel also sold a new script to a major Hollywood studio.
Our dear friend and client, Johanna Goldsmith, was cast in “Now Hiring,” a new comedy feature lensed in San Antonio.
Our client, Natasha Verma, launched her documentary, “Hardy,” with partner, Jay Giannone. The feature doc, which covers the subject of female boxing, looks to be a very exciting project.
Speaking of movies and Hollywood, I got to spend a good amount of time this past year in LA with my writing partner, Alvaro Rodriguez. Our new spec script, a noir thriller, is being shopped by our managers at Magnet. Al and I have taken meetings with Bad Robot, Laurence Mark Productions, Mythology and many others. I always love visiting LA, but, sadly, Alvaro has to put up with my consistently slow driving despite the rush of LA traffic.
On the commercial and corporate side of things, Expressions in Video created a host of exciting commercials and corporate videos. We produced a new national spot for WebGem, new animations for Dell, new animations for Chevron and a sentimental series of jewelry commercials for Trillion Media.
Expressions in Video was involved in many promotional videos in 2013, including sizzle reels for Sonic, Cohn Wolfe, Kettle Brand Chips, Travel Oregon and Maxwell PR.
We continued our relationship with Tessy Lou and the Shotgun Stars by shooting some “just for fun” video of their SXSW performance and also editing their latest music video. We also edited a series of promotional videos for the stellar Eric Clapton cover band, After Midnight.
In 2013 our film transfer department processed over 250,000 feet of film! We transferred WWII fighter jet footage for a local video game magnate, historic footage from around Texas and reels and reels of family films.
2013 was a fun and prosperous year for Expressions in Video and our extended family. As the camera rolls on 2014, we look forward to the new commercials and film work that we will create… and the new friends that we will discover.
Happy New Year!
